Single Column Vertical CNC Lathe
Designed for heavy-duty machining of large-diameter, heavy, and short-to-medium height rotational components, the Single Column Vertical CNC Lathe mounts the workpiece directly on a horizontal rotary table.
By utilizing a vertical architecture, gravity works to seat the workpiece securely on the table. This eliminates spindle sagging and clamping distortion common in horizontal lathes. The machine excels at machining heavy circular parts such as flanges, valve bodies, bearing rings, wheels, hubs, discs, and pump housings within a compact floor space. Depending on configuration, it performs external turning, face turning, internal boring, grooving, taper turning, and drilling in a single setup.

Key Machine Features
Gravity-Assisted Setup
Workpieces sit flat on the table, making crane alignment, centering, and 4-jaw clamping safer and faster.
Ergonomic Open Design
Single column configuration allows unobstructed overhead and front access for operators and overhead cranes.
High-Torque Drive System
Multi-stage gear change spindle box delivers massive torque at low speeds for alloy steel roughing.
Versatile Tooling Systems
Heavy-duty forged ram with manual tool clamping
Automatic hydraulic tool clamp with 4-station electric turret
Live tooling attachments for off-center drilling/milling (Optional)
Workpiece Applications
Flanges & Pipe Connectors: OD/ID turning, face turning, raised face machining, and gasket groove cutting.
Valve Bodies (Globe, Ball, Gate Valves): Deep internal cavity boring, flange facing, and seating ring machining.
Bearing Rings & Gear Blanks: Parallel face grinding prep, precision inner/outer profile turning with sub-micron runout.
Vehicle & Rail Wheels: Profile turning of tread, outer diameter, central hub boring, and balancing alignment.
Discs, Covers & Housings: High-efficiency surface facing and concentric ring grooving.
General Machinery Components: Mining machinery, energy sector turbines, ship components, and general industrial turnings.
Machine Structure
The structural casting utilizes HT300 high-grade fine-grain cast iron, fully stress-relieved via thermal annealing to eliminate residual stress, preventing deformation over decades of heavy metal removal.
Machine Base: Ultra-rigid box frame housing the main drive transmission and high-precision table bearings. Provides solid vibration absorption against heavy cutting forces.
Single Column: Rigid vertical structure housing hardened and ground guideways for cross rail movement. Offers open 3-side accessibility for crane-assisted loading.
Cross Rail: Moves vertically along the column to accommodate different part heights, locking rigidly in position during machining.
Rotary Worktable: Driven by a multi-kW main motor with dual-speed gear transmission, supported by high-precision axial-radial roller bearings for high stiffness under dynamic cutting loads.
CNC Tool Post & Ram: Forged square ram (typically 200x200 mm or 220x220 mm) provides maximum rigidity for extended reach into deep internal bores.
Machining Capabilities
The machine handles aggressive roughing cuts and ultra-fine finishing cycles across various operations:
External Turning: Stepped profiles, outside diameters, radii, and chamfers on thick-walled rings and housings.
Face Turning: Large flat end surfaces, sealing faces, and recessed steps using high-torque worktable drives.
Internal Boring: Precision deep-hole boring, inner diameter profiling, and shoulder turning.
Grooving & Threading: Internal and external seal ring grooves, snap ring slots, and large-pitch threading profiles.
Taper Turning: Accurate conical surfaces achieved through two-axis simultaneous CNC interpolation.
Drilling & Tapping: Center-hole drilling and counterboring (live tooling attachment optional).
Roughing & Finishing: High torque at low RPM for heavy metal removal; fine control at higher RPM for smooth surface finish (Ra <= 1.6 um).
